A Lily and Palm Easter

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”

Matthew 28:6

As soon as April 1st was here, I had my Easter bin out, ready to decorate. I am not going to lie, a lot of my Easter decorations fall under the commercial “Easter Bunny” décor. While I believe there is nothing wrong with that, I just felt a desire to do more décor around my belief of Jesus Christ.

Last year, my Mother gave our family the book, “Celebrating a Christ-Centered Easter: Children’s Edition”. It is a wonderful book written by Emily Belle Freeman & David Butler. The illustrations by Ryan Jeppesen are beautiful! (click the link below to purchase)

Each day, starting with Palm Sunday and leading up to Easter, the book gives a summary of the Easter story, prompt that goes along with an image and an activity that you can do with your children. Two of the symbols include lilies and palms.

So I went to work with my girls and we made paper lilies and a palm banner.

I have included the pdfs so you can do your own. Scroll down for the lily tutorial.

Lily Tutorial:

Items needed:

  • cut out template printed on regular white printer paper
  • Pencil
  • 4 Q-tips
  • Green coloring utensil (crayon, marker, highlighter)
  • Yellow coloring utensil (marker or highlighter-not neon yellow)
  • Glue gun and glue.
  1. color one side of the cotton Q-tips yellow
  2. color the middle part of the Q-tips green
  3. pull off the cotton from the other side of the Q-tip so it can be glued on easier.
  4. Use the pencil to curl the “pedals” of the lily.
  5. fold to create a cone shape and glue.
  6. pinch the bottom of the lily and glue Q-tip into the middle of the lily to create the stamens.

I hope you enjoy making these cute lilies and palms with your family.

Virtual “Ice Breaker” Activity

Such a fun activity. You could play with Family, Neighbors, Church Members… really with any group your are missing. What a year 2020 has turned out to be, am I right? With distance learning, quarantining and social distancing becoming the temporary norm, it hasn’t left a lot for getting together with people. Well, I wanted…

Hi! I’m Jess.

Thanks for joining me as I take life day to day  with an original idea to document it all…oh wait (wink wink). But seriously, I know there are times in life where you have to take it day to day.  Heck! If were being honest, you sometimes have to go hour by hour or even…
